Monifa Ellis-Addie, AMFT
Monifa Ellis-Addie, (AMFT #186922), originally from New Jersey, began her undergraduate experience studying movement/dance therapy at Stockton University in New Jersey. Monifa earned her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. During her studies, she was a part of the sexual wellness and education team for A Touch of Romance. There, she taught workshops on various female sexual health topics, such as sex toys that assist in vaginal health, the science of orgasm, and intimacy training. She was also a part of the street team, which supplied free sex products that promote sexual wellness, such as condoms, lubricant, and women’s wellness pamphlets. Throughout this time, she heard many stories from women searching for answers to their sex life. Although each woman’s story was different, it was always clear that the answer to their issue could not be purchased in the store. This sparked her interest to become a Sex Therapist and continue studying sexuality, it’s functions, and how it effects people. With her dance background, she also has a passion to help those in the stage performance world overcome anxiety that comes with the job, such as audition anxiety. Monifa is supervised by Natalie Finegood Goldberg, LMFT, CST (MFC#53017).
