Understanding Psychotherapy – How it Works

Sometimes we just need help. Maybe there is an identifiable source of stress. Maybe not! Sometimes we just need someone to listen, offer support, and remind us that we are not alone. As a Beverly Hills Psychotherapist, while I do specialize in sexual concerns, I am trained first and foremost as a Marriage and Family Therapist. This means that I work regularly with clients facing concerns that include:

  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Codependency
  • Grief and Loss
  • Low Self Esteem/Self Confidence
  • Sex addiction
  • Relationship Issues
  • Communication Concerns
  • Life Transitions
  • Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families

If you are struggling with any of the above concerns, I am happy to help you navigate whatever life hands you. Sometimes sexual concerns may bring you into therapy, but one of the above issues arises. Not to worry, this is very normal. As a Beverly Hills psychotherapist, it is my job to help you understand your emotional needs, challenge destructive habits, and help you to be the best version of yourself.

Why Go To Psychotherapy?

Fortunately, psychotherapy no longer carries the stigma it used to. Psychotherapy can be helpful for everyone, whether your problems are large or small. It offers a place to be heard and seen. Going to therapy doesn’t always require needing a ‘problem’ either. It is an opportunity to get clarity on our thoughts and feelings, so we can move forward in our lives.

How Do I Begin Psychotherapy?

You can begin my picking up the phone or emailing to learn more. Once we’ve had a chance to talk a little about what concerns you, there are a few options. We can either schedule an appointment or I may suggest a referral for someone who is better suited to address your concerns. For best results, it is recommended that you attend psychotherapy weekly. There may be some weeks where it feels like there is “nothing to talk about,” but sometimes these can be the most productive weeks! This is because it often means the “crisis” is over and we can dig a little deeper below the surface.

While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!
